About us

Our Early Years Teachers specialise in early childhood development. Who plan's, organises and delivers a wide range of learning and play activities for young children in a safe and supportive environment.

All our staff are qualified up to and including NVQ level 3 in Early Years and Child Care Education, level 5 in Business Management and regularly attend refresher courses. We have also ensured that all our members of staff are Pediatric First Aid trained. We follow the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (2021).

Your child will have fun with us but learn at the same time; as well as making new friends and learning to mix with other children. We have a safe and secure outdoor play area which we use every day, weather permitting.

We operate a key person system, which means that a member of staff is assigned to your child and assesses them regularly, which enables us to keep detailed records of your child’s progress. These records are available for you to see at any time, and the member of staff assigned to your child is available to discuss any concerns that you may have.

We work closely with other agencies such as The Early Years Alliance & Bradford Childcare and Early Education.

Where are we ?

We are conveniently situated in the centre of Silsden, in St James Church Hall.

From the Aire Valley Trunk Road, follow the signpost for Silsden, and proceed into the village. St. James Church can be found on the left-hand side of Kirkgate opposite the pay and display car park.

A small car park is adjacent to the church hall and can be used by parents. Extreme care must be taken to ensure the safety of all persons using the car park.

What is a Pre-School ?

At Pied Piper we aim to provide a safe and happy environment where children and parents learn together through play. Children have the opportunity to experience a wide range of activities in a child centred environment.

We offer social and play experiences, which address issues relating to our forever changing society in terms of heritage, faith, gender, ethnicity and disability.

The children learn to communicate in actions and words both with other children and with an enthusiastic and varied team of adults.

The children develop a growing degree of independence and by helping out on the parent rota; the adults can also learn to support each other and to run a safe and fruitful play experience for themselves and for the children in our community.

Our Values

Partnership:

We aim to work in collaboration with our parents and partners in a professional manner. Our support is given to those that need it, at a time when needed. We show responsiveness to all we work with on a partnership basis and endeavour to be motivated to try our upmost best to succeed in all we do.

Integrity:

Above all we are honest with each other, we are all accountable for our actions and actions that we take against each other whether it is other staff members or partners we work with. We have a right to be respected and have a duty to respect others. We can show strength in being objective if portrayed in a positive way.

Caring:

All the staff have a genuine interest in children and are very responsive to children’s interests and ideas ensuring the children are the heart of everything we do. We build great relationships with children and parents which helps us develop a good understanding of what children need, this also shows we are flexible to accommodate the differing needs of children and their families. We create a learning environment where all children can grow and develop but also recognise and value the importance of play.

Safeguarding:

Safeguarding and safety are very important to us. We as staff take these areas very seriously as we want a safe and secure environment for our children. We pride ourselves in making our setting a safe environment with the help from parents following our general rules of the setting. Our staff work with children and parents to ensure the welfare and safety of children and to give them the very best start in life. Children have the right to be treated with respect and to be safe from any abuse in whatever form.

Nutrition

Pied Piper Pre-School regards snack time as an important part of the setting’s day. Eating represents a social time for children and adults and helps children to learn about healthy eating.

At snack time, we aim to provide nutritious food, which meets the children’s individual dietary needs. Snack time can also be made relevant to the days activity or event, I.E. Chinese New Year.

If your child has any specific dietary needs, please inform us.
